Ireland Road Trip Part 2: Dingle and Doolin Were a Literal Dream

Can you road trip Ireland in 1 week? This is part 2 of our Ireland road trip series where we rented a camper from Roadsurfer and tried to see as much of the country as we could. And this is honestly one of my favorite parts of the whole trip. Dingle and Doolin were a literal dream, and I cannot even get over the hawk blow dry session we stumbled into. It was so cute. But we have some fun and interesting adventures in part 3 that you will not want to miss, so follow along for the rest of the journey!

Dingle: Everything You Heard Is True

Dingle is on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry and it is one of those towns that just works. Small enough to walk everywhere, incredible seafood, colorful storefronts, and traditional pubs with live music most nights. The Slea Head Drive is one of the most spectacular loops in all of Europe. We pulled over about forty times. Ancient beehive huts, dramatic sea cliffs, tiny Gaelic-speaking villages. No notes.

Doolin: Traditional Music Capital of Ireland

Doolin is a tiny village in County Clare and it might be the traditional music capital of Ireland. Walk into any of the main pubs on any evening and you will hear live Irish sessions that give you full-body chills. Doolin also sits right at the base of the Cliffs of Moher, which stretch 14 kilometers along the Atlantic coast. On a moody cloudy day they look completely otherworldly. Pro tip: buy tickets in advance and go in the morning before the tour buses arrive.
